They Wanted Me To Die

They wanted me to die
They wanted me to burn
Misconceptions flying through the air
Words as sharp as knives coming, coming, coming, nowhere to run.

Dark paths led to dark roads
Dark spaces at every turn
They wanted me to die
They wanted me to burn

Lost dreams fell through the night
Lost hope - I saw it burn

I broke free through the night
I broke into a life, weak but something I knew could run.
I found another light against a fading sun.

So many thoughts I’ve had
So many heart felt burns
So many times I’ve asked
Should I see another sun

I tried to end my life
I tried to make me burn
But now so many years have passed
I found love in the dark

Love found me in return.
