They Walk Amongst Us
Don't forget her.
She's shameless,
self-centered,
weeping profusely
without reason.
Soft melodies
she sings
for whomever
is in the vicinity.
She knows.
She's a criminal,
stealing looks
from other women.
They hate the easy effort
to hypnotize
the comfortably curious.
She is real.
She's everywhere,
taking lives,
choosing by
throwing stones
into the crowd.
Onlookers whisper,
"How disgusting,"
they say,
without remorse or care.
Lights flicker.
Squinted eyes all around.
She's disappeared
into the night.
Don't forget her.
She's shameless.
