They Walk Among Us
They Walk Among Us
By Elton Camp
“Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof” - Carl Sagan
The gullible will believe almost anything
From them, all kinds of wild ideas spring
Monsters reside in the depths of Loch Ness
Dinosaurs live in darkest Africa, they guess
Oh, they are certain for goodness sake
In many places there’s a large, erect ape
Our solar system has one inhabitable place
Yet, it’s invasion from deep space we face
Around many stars, we know planets rotate
But their distance from earth is very great
The immutable laws of physics have decreed
That the speed of light no object can exceed
Even if there is life on any planets out there
About enough food and water they must care
Even at light speed, years would be required
By the time they get here, they’d be expired
Yet many believe aliens have already come
“They abducted & examined me,” say some
Unusual claims there’s obligation to prove
“Put up or shut up” would such behoove
