Notes About The Poem

They Say I Am Young

Deep inside me extinguished light Lost fight against the darkest night Hiding in corners deep inside My name I hardly ever hear For far too long I've lived in fear Lost everyone that I held dear The wish to sleep can be so strong The wish to live a heartbeat long I am so old, they say I'm young *** While way up high the sky exploding Into a multitude of worlds Though all my blurring eyes are seeing A tangly mass of messy curls *** But through those ringlets I, too, see The stars reflection in the sea Dancing specs of evening sky The smallest spark of light in me For the first time I long to be I want to live, I shall be free *** March 8, 2017 Meme by Mel © Darren White

This touched me so deeply, I wept for a bit before I could gather the courage to write this. I've read a lot of your poems, each one so beautifully worded, but not like this one. As I read this poem, it painted such a disastrous beauty of a painting, which hung heavy on the walls of my heart. You're an amazing poet, cannot wait to read more!

Hello Darren. Always are your words expressive and beautiful. This entry here is no exception as you truly do know how to express. Poetry is all about heart and soul and always do you reach that in my eye. This is marvelous. Well done throughout. I'm a little behind as I away from the computer I will catch up later on.

In trying times it is easy to give up but you give us hope that shows there still is some good in this world.
