They Say

Poet: Ken Jordan
Poem: They Say
Edited by: Sparkle Jordan
written: July/2014

Black,

 yes
I'm black,

In spite of
what
they say,

I was born
black -

sent here
by
my Father.

Thank you
O'Lord,

for
my black
skin -

Down here,

they say
I'm
colored.

I'm
I colored
O'Lord,
like
they say ?

I was shaped,
and
molded,

from the likeness
of
my Fathers
image -

Are you
colored too
O'Lord,

black like me?
