They Say

I let her go To cover up my scars I assumed she was a foe The stones of craving I crushed under my teeth I stole the parts from her breath when it was hard for me to breathe I covered my face with smile when all I wanted was to sob They say 'You did a Devil's job' I want to make amends for what I did love the next one to come, the way I never did It's not going to be hard to swim down the old shore They say 'You're not a bad person at your core.'
