They Said
They said it just wouldn't work
And would only cause disappointment and hurt.
They said it was too lofty
And just too costly.
This thing, this thing of mine,
This beautiful thing that stays on my mind
And in my heart, it dwells,
With each passing day, it swells.
Pregnant, beautifully pregnant with possibility,
I can see...
And I can feel...
And it's oh so real.
Just because they said I shouldn't doesn't mean I should rant,
Just because they couldn't doesn't mean I can't.
Just because she didn't doesn't mean I don't,
Just because he wouldn't doesn't mean I won't.
What does their velleity have to do with me?
'Cause I can see it and I feel it, it's my destiny
