They Know Not
Love your enemies,
And do good to those who hate you.
Avenge not yourselves,
But bless those who curse you.
For those who despitefully use you
And persecute you, pray,
And forgive those who sin against you
And respond to you the wrong way.
Even when you think they should know better
Than hurt you deep inside,
Be not offended, but love God’s law
And receive His grace for thorns in your side-
Having this mind that was also in Christ,
Who when wounded and crucified for you
Looked up and said, “Father, forgive them,
For they know not what they do.”
