These Things We Hold On To

Everyone has fears. Let's try to have faith greater than our fears. Let's allow light to illuminate our souls and highlight the darkness that we fear. Negative emotions do not have to be bad. We are all dark and light. These things we hold on to By Michelle Morris 27/01/2023 These things we hold on to They are often driven by fear But if we can be still and calm Look within and have faith We can release them And be free... If we set free our anger We fear that the transgressions against us will be diminished If we set free our forgiveness We fear that they will get away with it If we set free our judgement We fear that others will feel that we aren't enough If we set free our grief We fear that we may lose the memory of those who have passed If we set free our shame We fear that we will be seen for our authentic selves and be found wanting If we set free our truth We fear that we won't survive the honesty If we set free our hope We fear that we will become comfortable and be more dismayed at the potential "other shoe" dropping If we set free our love We fear that we will be hurt and that our love won't be reciprocated If we set free our light We fear that we will shine too brightly for others to accept Have faith greater than your fears Allow love and light to soothe your soul Allow healing and blessings to all Have a heart that is open and bold You can embrace the darkness You can heal it with light We are all a balancing act Between day and night For these things we hold on to They will eventually fade away Nothing mortal can last forever Our souls exist beyond Emotional mayhem Have faith greater than your fears Live with hope and prayer Embrace mercy and grace Feel light and love And be free For these things we hold on to Are not who we aspire to be © Michelle Morris, 2023
