These Tears
This somber glade where they've laid you
will become my sanctuary;
memories will be companions
in my quiet misery.
You never liked to see me cry.
I hear your soft and gentle voice
with tenderest sincerity
asking, 'Why such bitter tears?'
These tears are layered like the rose
that, to my lips, I press and kiss
while kneeling in the cold, damp sod
only to be close to you.
These tears show all the grief I feel
and flow from deep within my heart;
remnants of all the hopes and dreams
we planned to share together…
Grief that grips my tormented mind,
tightly clutching my aching heart,
slowly squeezing away the life
that I must face without you.
These tears also show thankfulness,
streaming down like a healing rain,
assuring me that you'll never
have to suffer grief like this.
