These Tears

This somber glade where they've laid you will become my sanctuary; memories will be companions in my quiet misery. You never liked to see me cry. I hear your soft and gentle voice with tenderest sincerity asking, 'Why such bitter tears?' These tears are layered like the rose that, to my lips, I press and kiss while kneeling in the cold, damp sod only to be close to you. These tears show all the grief I feel and flow from deep within my heart; remnants of all the hopes and dreams we planned to share together… Grief that grips my tormented mind, tightly clutching my aching heart, slowly squeezing away the life that I must face without you. These tears also show thankfulness, streaming down like a healing rain, assuring me that you'll never have to suffer grief like this.

Thank you for your comments and for taking the time to read my works. This was written upon the passing of my late first wife. She had health problems for 26 of the 28 years we were married, her passing was heart-wrenching, but knowing she was no longer suffering was a relief as well. Thank you again. Ron
