These Days

they come in day by day
some with vacant stares
while others pace listlessly amongst the others
some chatter to somebody I can't see
and others challenge the workers behind the appointment desk
for some kind of reaction

just now
he came in and wanted to take himself out with one of our people
he had the security guards running
police were called
the dragnet spread out
and a hold put on everything for who knows how long

last week
somebody ripped the sharp container off the wall
ran out of the building
chased down the street
it's more real here these days
than reality.
