There's a Gap In the Lounge Curtains
There’s a gap in the lounge curtains
I can see it in the corner of my eye
I’ve been trying to ignore it, but
I can’t no matter how hard I try.
It’s knowing that I know it’s there
That’s really bugging me
I ought to get up and close it, ‘cause
I can’t concentrate on the TV.
There’s a gap in the lounge curtains
And it’s getting wider I would swear
Well, it certainly appears to be
From where I’m sitting in my chair.
I know it sounds ridiculous
I’m probably imagining it, I know
But the feeling that gap is widening
Simply will not go.
There’s a gap in the lounge curtains
I can see a wedge of dark sky
I can also see a sliver of moon
And moths as they fly by.
I suppose it could be interesting
If I were that way inclined
But the wonders of the sky at night
Is the last thing on my mind.
There’s a gap in the lounge curtains
And it’s getting on my nerves
I really must move myself and sort it out
That’s all that it deserves.
But, I’m comfortable and I’m cosy
Watching the TV
But that bloody gap in the curtains
Is really bugging me!
There’s a gap in the lounge curtains
How it got there I don’t know
It doesn’t matter anyway
That gap has got to go.
It’s dominating everything,
Taking over my mind.
Tomorrow I’m taking the curtains down
And putting up a roller blind!
