Therein

Darkness engulfs the light beyond
Shadows encompass the standing dawn
Leaving dread and despair
The lifelong injury of fear

Guilt and shame lie upon
The soul that stands alone
Traipsing through the swamps of time
Anger, sadness, worthless vines hang above the mind

Floundering feelings drowning deep
Under the sorrow with no sign of retreat
Hopefully trying to catch a glimpse
Of a light…an end to the pain
With no sight of it
Knowing, feeling there will be no gain
