There Was a Time

There was a time...,
There was a time...,
There was a time
                                   When the world was new
                                   And the summers long.
                                   But before I knew
                                   Those days were gone.

There was a time,
                                   In the days that remained,
                                   I thought love’d be mine 
                                   But it never came.
          
And there came a time 
                                   When the world turned cold
                                   And I was old.
