THERE WAS A NATION

There was once a nation Bound by dreams and unity Every soul proud and free A land of hope and harmony. Then a shadow crept unseen A poison to the nation's dream Leaders, once so bright and true Betrayed the many for the few. Discontent, like a seed, took root A nod, a bribe, a favor, a loot Embezzlement became the norm And soon the moral compass was torn. Public infrastructure, once so grand Crumbling now, unable to stand Schools decay, health neglected The young despair, their dreams rejected. There was once a nation A mirror for its peers, a cradle for leaders Void of greed and selfishness What happened to that bright nation?
