There Is No Free

There is no free
There's just you and me

There is no dream
This world is not what it seems

There is no true light
For life we fight, fight, fight

The basic code of man
To consume all that he can

There is no life
Where a mind isn't free

We dance to the beat
Of the deafening silent screams

We live in a world
Where we refuse to see

Our minds imprison our souls
And throw away the key.

Very poignant and to the point. Love how you ended it. Love that it rhymes inconsistently, you didn’t do a cookie cutter rhyme scheme. Love “deafening silent screams.”
