There Is No Excuse For Ignorance
There is no excuse for ignorance
You must know when you were born
There is no excuse for ignorance
You are sucking the energy out of the popcorn
And fooling everybody about your naked charity
There is no excuse for ignorance
When you pollute the entire land
There is no excuse for ignorance
When you pretend to be a bad man
I got up this afternoon and walked through the door
Where I was going, I was not sure
I took my bike and circle around some corners
That was not tolerant to foreigners
An unsettling feeling sprang up in my stomach
I got it from eating junk the previous day
Soda biscuits, instant noodles, and local sweet jack fruit
It inflated my stomach with gas and I had to detox
I am still cleaning out the residue so that I can go through
There is no excuse for ignorance when you are a grown man
There is no excuse for ignorance
When you occupy twenty percent of the global land
I have been here before and I know what is hiding behind the door
There is no excuse for ignorance when you visit the convenient store
The food is spoilt the price is high and the label is wrong
I rode my bike down the little park and climb up the steps
No excuse for ignorance was the subject that bellowed out
Here I am sitting in the park looking for a new start
The temperature is rising the wind is blowing
And some people still don’t know where they are going
The sun is spilling hot heat and I am listening to drum beat
There is no excuse for ignorance
Every time I see it more and more
The saying that a house is not a home is so true
It is sending a powerful message to me and you
I must teach the children before they are grown
Not when they are sitting on the throne
Good morning means good morning
Good evening means good evening
Good night is good night and
Good afternoon is good afternoon
And daylight is daylight
There is no excuse for ignorance
Teach the children to be polite to strangers
Teach the children to respect big brothers and big sisters
Teach the children not to throw garbage on the floor
And to say excuse me when we meet at the door
There is no excuse for ignorance
Who is sleeping in my marital bed,
Get up, look at me and stop pretending as if you are dead
I am never suspicious of my best friends
They will be there for my loyal defense
Remember that everyone, doesn’t like me
There is no excuse for ignorance
My best friends might have an agenda and they can do what is improper
Don’t be naïve get up and roll up your sleeves
There is no excuse when you kneel down at the altar
Remember that you are in the belly of the beast
Move your mouth slowly like when Hannah prayed for a son
Eli the priest watched her lips moving but no sound was coming out
Don’t let the breath escape from your mouth
Whisper deep down in your throat
You will soon know what this is all about
There is no excuse for ignorance when the devil is moving about
I do not trust my father, my mother sister or brother
When you are king and the queen
You cannot eat at the local canteen
And you must pay attention to the French beans
Open your eyes and look there is beauty all around
And my friend wants to enter the campground
I must speak with dignity and full authority and don’t give in to mediocrity
I have the ability and experience
I know that some things are not foreverbody
I follow their orders play by the rules but I am not a fool
I don’t trust the doctors, corners and headquarters
My bodyguard is there to protect me
He must not sleep in my bed; he is not my boyfriend
There is no excuse for ignorance.
