Their Clocks

their clocks tick away
I see time is running out
countdown to the grave
time leads me to be alone
waiting for my clock to stop

As we get older we begin to think about our own mortality. All my uncles and aunts (and my parents) are now dead. Now it is the turn of my cousins (two died last year) and, at some time or other, me! But that is the natural order of things. We should enjoy the moment, while we can. A thought-provoking write. Regards, Robert.

I think in the next life that there won't be that dimension of time. Hard to imagine because here it rules our lives. I found your verse thoughtful and provocative Jack

I can relate..but, 'Peace be still', dear Jack. Let it march on. We can look forward to a new begining somewhere beyond where time has no hold. Have a great weekend! Love, Annalise

Guess you know this poem has special meaning for me, Jack. Look at the clock or the calendar and just try to make the most of whatever time we have. Beautifully expressed thoughts! Love, Carolyn

You're not alone, Jack. We're here reading your poems. And, besides, Einstein showed us time bends and stretches every which way. But the poem's great.

This is a well written poem Jack...about a very sad subject! The outcome is quite sombre and fearful! You were very effective in conveying your message across! Great job!!
