Their Bond of Motherhood

In a dusty savannah far away
stand two female elephants,
cheek to cheek, as they sway,
renewing an eternal bond.
Mother Nature’s gentle giants
who have sheltered their herd,
protecting each other’s movements,
from the harm that may occur.

There are many animals in nature
that raise, and protect their young.
But none as gentle, kind, and caring
as Mother Nature’s elephants.
How much longer will they exist
to comfort each other, and survive,
while man’s greed seeks to destroy
their bond of motherhood?
