Theif

Tiptoe through the house
Breath slow and shallow
Pry open the bedroom door
Trickling light escaping in a narrow line
Enter the overwhelming emptiness
Pocket all possessions
Thieve what is yours but belongs to others

Retrace your steps
Backing out of the quiet house
Leave no footprints,
No clues —
Only the consequences to your actions.
