The------Chimes-----They-----R----A Changin

THE CHIMES ARE A SIGN OF THE TIMES

I know she makes me giggle
I know I am persuaded by her wiggle
And she is a lady with wings who can fly
A lady who never learned how to cry

A lady who responds to my every touch
And doesn’t beg for expensive such and such
Because all I have to give has been given all away
I remember the white dress the tux and that sunless day

It was a foreboding feeling that was tangible and clear
I heard a still small voice inside shout “DON’T YOU DARE!”
But then the rings, the bells the theatrical kiss for two
And that small voice still screamed “THIS ISN’T GOOD FOR YOU!”

That day was in springtime yet the flowers all died
The daisy felt hazy as the chrysanthemums cried
Then summertime with its sumptuous sun came to claim the season
And it was in the summertime when she left me for absolutely no reason

Very sad! A good narrative though, and I like the omens that lead to the end of your poem/relationship. Is this a true story?
