The Zoo
On a warm Saturday I went to the zoo
To see the animals there
To just stop by and stand in awe
And yes, politely stare.
I was surprised at what would be
They looked right back and spoke to me...
The Ostrich was the first to speak
And asked me why I had no beak
The zebra did have many gripes,
He asked me why I had no stripes
Right next-door were chimpanzees
They asked me if I swung from trees?
The Hippo gave a grumbling snort
A tall giraffe said I was short
The grizzly bears asked me for honey
A leopard said my spots were funny
The Hyenas didn’t have much to say
They laughed at me and ran away
The Cobra tried his best to charm
The gator said he liked my arm
The Elephant ate some corn and husk
And tried to poke me with his tusk!
I’ll just find something else to do
I will not go back to the Zoo!
