The Young Man From Quebec

The first time I saw him, my heart took flight.
What a beautiful, beautiful sight!
Dark-eyed and gorgeous with plenty of height!
He came where I worked, stealing glances each night
as he streaked through my life like a comet so bright.
In less than one week, that guy would be gone.
What a beautiful, beautiful sight.
How I wished our time could go on.

It seemed all my young life I'd wanted to be
with a boy like that; it was so heavenly
every evening when he came around. I would see
this young man flashing flirty smiles at me!
Later I learned he'd felt shy until he
asked me out finally! We kissed in his car.
With a boy like that, it was so heavenly!
I'll never forget him - my bright vanished star.

Indelible is my memory of the young man from Quebec.

Dedicated to Guy Loranger, wherever he might be.

Isn't it strange how some people seem to painlessly leave an imprint on our heart with a sledgehammer, Andrea? I'm sure he thinks of you in quiet moments. Such fleeting joy. A fine write, I'm sure you'll do well. Viv x

I'm sure he thinks of me. He called me three years later after I was married and with a baby. Too little too late! But it was so nice that he thought of me.

I believe I am aware of the source for your mind and pen (and other) while think, writing this out. It is very clear, bittersweet and should do well with or without a contest. Hugs ... CayCay

Twisted through trails on a tough trek; Then we finally ended up at Quebec; Water would run; We had much fun, Until cold water was up to our neck.

your description of this young man is wonderful, andrea! my first thought was the same as jan's - to google him and see what he's up to, but maybe it's better for him to remain that "indelible memory" in your mind...
