The Yellow Brick Road
You took my hand
Then my heart
And broke it.
Tears, washed clean
The yellow brick road
I paved for you;
and the bright sun
Cried golden droplets
Onto the dew
Endless footprints
Carved beneath the skies
Moved onward toward the echo
Of a love shouted
From the stars
And broken at the shore.
A sea of tears
Thundering home
To oval pebbles on the beach
And shells echoing a love lost.
