The Writer and the Poet

Places beyond the things we see,
fading shadows of the past.
We see them now but through our minds-
and until written, they can’t last.

Kings that ruled justly from the throne,
ships that have sailed the seas through time,
stories the poet wants to make known,
thoughts that dance the edge of our minds.

When not inspired by things without,
it’s then that we look deep within.
The limitless themes that we write about
take the reader to where we ‘ve been.

Lines from the writer and the poet
are new wonders that grace each page.
They fill volumes before you know it
becoming writes of a passing age.

Even though our poems become "writes of a passing age," many of the great ones have withstood the test of time. I like the way you describe the creative process, Doug. Nice work! Love, Carolyn

"The limitless themes" I like that. It reminds one of the freedom that comes with writing. We can go anywhere and do anything in our minds and on the page. Very well penned. Smiles from Lolita
