The World Upside Down

The World Upside Down

They hide the truth in shades of gray and tell us to follow our hearts into the haze,
The louder you lie the more you are heard in this world and all its ways,
But silence now speaks louder than all their words put together in one place,
And I see clear through all these games... and I am ashamed... and I burn with disgrace.

The world is upside down and I no longer know if it is flat or round,
Everything I thought I knew no longer lines up with the truth that should be found,
We chase the clues that will never be discovered in this darkness and this night,
And we lose ourselves in their labyrinth... with no way out... and no light.

The wise men look like fools and the fools lead with loud voices and with nerve,
Those who think they are awake sleep the deepest in the slumber they deserve,
They sow shallow roots and call them deep and full of grace and holy ground,
They preach unity and stand alone in their towers... with no sound.

Where do I run when North feels South and all the roads reverse and bend,
When silence screams the loudest and the chaos surrounds me without end,
Is there a rock beneath this ground or do we fall to hell without reprieve,
Lord if You are there... make Yourself known... I need You now... I need to believe.

They tear down walls just to build their own up higher and more cold,
You live for the world or die in vain... and the world keeps burning... and you grow old,
It is a beautiful and sad shame this world upside down and empty in the mind,
And I search for truth among their false clues... on a road I cannot find.

Even if the stars fall out of the sky and chaos pounds against my temple with its fists,
Your truth remains and cannot be denied through all the storms and all the mists,
I hold Your hand through this carousel of the world upside down and full of lies,
For You are the only true rock... in this upside down world of vanity... beneath these skies.
