The Words In My Head

I went to bed...
But the words in my head
Would not be still
And against my will...
They clamored to be
Written for you to see.

I tossed in bed…
But the words in my head
Stayed wide awake
So for sanity’s sake
I caught every one
Now my poem is done!

I got out of bed…
But the words in my head
Had gone to sleep
So without a peep
I crawled back in
And with a wide grin
I bade them goodnight
Closed my eyes tight
For soon they’d awake
And my life overtake!

My iPad sits by my bed so I can get the words out before they evaporate. Even with that there are many words that have slipped from my mind. All who write can relate to this piece Eileen.

Did they wake you again / drive you to pick up a pen / and command you to write humorous verse / did you politely give in / write more poems with a grin / Till such time that you could finally sleep in? Love your poem Eileen. I can relate.

Jon.....you just brighten up my days! Thanks! I get so frustrated when I don't get the words down quickly enough because.......they disappear never to be found again! Good to have someone who can relate so well! Have a great day! :)

Thoughts and ideas often come after you have gone to bed - head is relaxed and you are thinking clearly, I feel the same way. -Have a pen and paper by your side and write the keyword. - When tomorrow comes, it is forgotten. - Very well written. - Have a nice day. - oxox / / Anne-Lise :)

Thanks ever so much, Anne Lise. :) I'm sometimes in the shower when thoughts come to me and it's hard to wait till I can get out to write it all down! Have a lovely day!
