The Wombat

Where mountains rise and forests grow the slow wombat digs his home. It lives in fear of foes and those who deride its shape and gait. It roams the land, where green abounds, when full darkness falls around. ---------------------------------------------- No.1 ~ Wombat Author: Paul Callus ~ 18 th Jan 2015 Contest: Night Creatures Sponsor: Nette Onclaud Placed: 5th

You are correct, Nathan.....usually they come out at night, although they also go out to feed on dark, gloomy days. Thank you for stopping by. All the best. // paul

Hi Andrea! I felt deep in my heart that not many would be choosing the wombat, so I had to opt for him; unfortunately I was pressed for time, but did manage an entry, at least. Thanks. // paul

Some people make fun of the wombat and I felt sorry for it, that's why I wrote about it; could have done better, but time was not on my side; glad you noticed the internal rhymes...they make up for the end rhymes which were not allowed in this form. hugs // paul

I got to see one in Sydney, either at the animal farm I visited that also had a Koala Bear, or the Taronga Zoo. I can't recall, but they are kind of cute. Great entry for the contest Paul!
