the woman he never met

she was different now
she smiled without forcing it
she laughed easier

the world around her hadn’t changed
the difference was her

but he will never know this version of her
he will only remember the version of what she had been

quiet
tender
alone

he will never meet the girl who came after
and perhaps that was the part that hurt the most
now that she had moved on
he will never know how beautiful she truly was

years from now
he might wonder what became of the girl
with the blonde hair
and the bright blue eyes

the girl who loved him more than she loved herself
but he would never know

because by the time she found herself
she had become someone he no longer deserved to know

Jordan, I love your empowering poem. We're all worthy of love and it's freeing to realize we deserve to be loved and respected. Nicely penned. 🌹
