Notes About The Poem

Wrote this back in 2011 and Hilda Greenhough's poem "Too Much Ice" reminded me of it. Hope you like it. Sung to the tune of Jingle Bells.

THE WINTER TIME BLUES

Dashing through the snow,
It's thirty-two below,
My hands are cold, my feet are numb,
For some this weather sure ain't fun.

My eyes are tearing up,
My nose has turned bright red,
My fingers hurt, the car won't start,
I should have stayed in bed.

Ohhhh! Off to work, Off to work,
I gotta get to work.
The car won't start, the battery died,
I'll have to try to hitch a ride.

Standing in the cold.
I'm waiting for the bus.
If I don't freeze to death today,
It's 'cause pneumonia got me fust.

The UK really struggles when it snows... I personally have not had such struggles, but I can get an understanding of it from your poem.. nicely done Judy..

Thank you so much Silent One. My first year in Canada I was thrilled at my first sight of snow but then I went out in it and IT WAS WET! Then the first blizzard hit and I could see how people die in the stuff. I still like it though. Thanks bunches God Bless and Happy New Year. JB

Yes, I hear the rhythm of jingle bells, Judy. Your poem brings forth the blues of winter--though, where I am, it is just cold. Happy New Year, Judy.
