The Winter Stalk

A smile cracks my face
can you hear the joy?
Delight wreathes eyes
hidden from your view
fullness blossoms
because of you.

There’s a bounce in my step
can you see the joy?
Longing be not the villain
but the harbinger of delight
when unhidden from your sight.

Because of you
fullness blooms
on the winter stalk
golden forsythia flowers.

Beautiful, Deborah. Forsythia flowers are such a beautiful winter flower. I like the way you compare your inner (perhaps a secret love...hidden. Am I too romantic?) delight to the yellow spray of the winter blossoming Forsythia. xoxox Dane Ann

There's nothing wrong in longing for spring, Deborah. When I lived in NJ, the forsythia blooms were oh so welcome in early spring. Indeed, the put a "bounce in my step" as I knew pleasant weather was on the way. Very nice poem. Love, carolyn
