The White Rabbit Explains His Perpetual Lateness
So why am I always late? Well, I’ll tell you straight
I bought this watch from Tesco (yes, I know it’s not the best co)
But I’ve been short recently, things to do, people to see
Food to get and bills to pay, a final demand from the C.S.A.
Honestly, I’m a rabbit, if I see a tail I’m going to have it
A hundred sons and daughters more, irate fathers at my door
Try providing for extended family, it can’t be done, you’ll soon see
Worries about the price of hay, carrots cost more every day
I get up before it’s light, find fresh grass, have a bite
Then busy snoozing through the day until the sun flies away
Out again as light fails, more eating and all it entails
Digging a burrow for another brood (a pretty chick whom I wooed)
My life an endless round of juggling, pleasing and struggling
Keeping every wife sweet, no wonder I’m always beat
And as for lateness, isn’t it a sign of greatness?
Anyway I’m wanted I have to go, someone’s calling down below
There really aren’t enough hours in the day...
