The Whiskey Burn and the Tequila Sweet
The nest you vowed to leave
When you were a fledgling
The annoying crows of the big bird
You clicked your tongue at
Are now turning into fond memories
The nights of staying up until 6am
After the everlasting drinking and dancing around the tables is done
Sober now
That you actually miss the
Hangover headache hotels
It was worth it
Just gotta yolo
You say laughing the next day
The moment you leave is
The moment you regret
When you realize what
All you wanted and needed
Was right beside you
All along
All this time
When you’re only
Slipping away
Fading away
From this terrestrial
It appears translucent
For a few seconds of twilight
But as you fade
It fades away
Leaving a warm brush against
Your fingertips
The words bold on your palm
You breath in relief
That it will stay
Until you glance down
The words of love are gone
And it’s all gone
All memories gone
And you realize
You’re crying
You left something you thought was
Of no value at all
Never admitting it for sure
But you miss it
You miss the loud laughs and tears
The whiskey burn and tequila sweet
Time racing past you
When you’re loving it
Time sullenly trodding behind you
When you just can’t bare it
You’re wondering
Hiding away
While you think right there
Time dashes for it again
You put your head up
The bubbles still resonating in your throat
The rosé still sizzling in its chilling
Until the soda oxides
The pink bleaching into white
A white space
Of nothingness
