The Weight of Deep Pain

Written: April 25, 2025 for Contest sponsored by Joseph May **************************** Now I must weep, An oppressive key so morbid, Now I must weep Extreme suffering is too deep My heart is now a crushed orchid All ended before it started Now I must weep Ecstasy sweeps Will I always remain happy? Ecstasy sweeps Massive, widespread progress in leaps! Job advancement to be sappy! Peers treat me as one who's snappy! Ecstasy sweeps

I know the weight of deep pain, and the joy of being happy again. Life is full of ups and downs. Our smiles are up, sometimes down, just like those horses on a merry go round. Lovely poetry Sotto… Beryl

SP...this is a study in contrasts. I could say this is an exploration in bi-polar chemistry...and I am glad it's only for a contest. On the other hand, as one who has lived in the top stanza for much of life, it is much more pleasant to have some manic moments. You ask a good question...."Will I always remain happy?" While there are no guarantees, I'm thinking that once one finds a true inner happiness, it doesn't depend that much on externalities. Life is so strange. Smiles!

It's hard to be in a place where you're misunderstood. Liked the refrain a lot- a beautiful short poem
