The Way You Make Me Feel
I sit alone in a room full of couple,
staring at the empty seat next to me.
Memories run through my mind over and over;
causing sadness to stick to my heart;
like gum sticks to the bottom of a shoe;
on a hot and humid day.
Dreams of a reunion slowly shatter like ice;
under the feet of reality.
Seeds of hope lay deep within me;
covered by a blanket of broken promises;
shielded from loes warmth;
unable to grow.
