The Way To Go

The road follows me
Pushes me from behind
It’s finger in my ass.
I see the orange melting to black
My horizon shooting out yellow rays
Showing me the path
Where to go next
Nothing around me
Just some broken matches, broken cigarettes and broken dreams.
Left my possessions, my image
Their expectations behind me.
I could throw my wallet out the window right now
Pay for the trip with my heart
A heart of gold and a spirit of steel
My properties, possessions for the rest of my life
Show me the road.
It’s got an honest face
Nothing to hide.
I see a reflection of death.
It mocks and entices me
Alluring and antagonizing.
An accident in the ditch is there for everyone to see.
Stare deep and hard.
Feel how close the destruction is
How it taunts you.
Taste it, let it flavor your life.
Don’t fear it.
The darkness of the road
Embraced by the night.
My car hugs the road
Loving it, knowing the curves.
I barely touch the wheel.
I just let it glide along.
Going my way. The way of my heart.
Nothing to stop me now.
Whether the ride ends in
The ditch, in paradise, or where my wallet lies.
The truth is before me.
Black as night.
Fate putting it’s finger in my ass
Pushing me forward.
