''The Wall''

I write because I can; This is what I'm compelled to do!
My hand can't quit,I'm so far from through.

My pen bleeds out of my soul, yet why do I let it,want to say forget it!
Around my heart, walls I can't build strong enough to keep things in
Truth blurts out,to lovers and too friends
My walls aren't made of stone, cement, nor steel so emotions creep in
And regrettably I start to feel.Feelings are luxuries I can't afford
So with those around me I just pretend I'm bored. If not that then anger shall push them away
Why a wall have I built and why is it falling apart day by day?
My memories fade and family with that,I'm left with so few
Even still I pretend I know what to do..
Many do back me but with forked tongue speak of how I shall fail
So with each day I build my wall, nail by nail
My pen is my hammer and I pound it to the page
                                        Sometimes about beauty and love
                                        Sometimes of revenge and rage.
A carpenter I am not,yet this trade I'm trying to learn
To build my wall stronger, before the fire, before it burns
No more bridges may I afford to lose,I must keep
for the river is cold and the waters run deep!

                                                                                                      3/18/07 1:37:43 A.M.

We are wordsmiths at the end of the day ... longing to move others to contemplation with our creations. Great introspection about the blessing and curse that is writing ... walls are great for a temporary defense, but not a recommended place to hole up for very long. Emotions are important ... they remind us that we are human.

Jai, you've expressed yourself well. I understand why you built a wall, Emotions are not the easiest thing to rid of. Your write is deep, I'm enjoying everything you have to offer. Linda
