The Wait

I stood there looking out to sea
Hoping that you would come to me
But, alas, you never did appear
Re-establishing all new fears

Would you come, take me away?
My hopes are still, so this I pray.
I’ll be here waiting upon your return
Worry not, love, my heart will still burn.

For hope doesn’t end so freely or sure
If intentions are honest, loving and pure
You take your time, I’ll wait for thee
For when the sun arises, it’s you I’ll see

And I shall never turn away
For I will be here every day.
