The Voice of Reason
We all have three voices ringing in our ears
Sometimes we can only hear the harmful one loud and clear
The negative, moralless, judgmental snake
the one that reminds us of all our past mistakes
Screaming about things that were done long ago
Never wanting us to just let them go
Desiring for us to be buried alive
Never wanting us to get up and let it all subside
Repeating our failures and short comings
With the intention that we will just keep running
However the voice of reason always calmly interjects
This voice is more like a whisper that speaks with respect
Reminding us that we are not our past faults
Rather, we are magnificent, mysterious, secrete vaults
Filled with treasures, some old, others new
Allowing us to marvel at what we have walked through
Speaking words of wisdom and encouraging us to succeed
Reminding us that we were made to rise above and lead
Then we have our own voice which knows what’s right and wrong
on certain days it is not very strong
It’s like a game of tug of war deep inside the mind
In this place you never know what you will find
When one side pulls towards negativity
It is the otherside that bring us back to clarity
But we ultimately decide
Each day whose advice we will override
It’s up to us to decipher what is certainly true
For there are many truths in life, but only one truth.
