'the Voice In My Head'
I could not tell what it was
From a distance, it looked to be some sort of bug
As it inched towards me
It magnified in size
Thinking I was high,
I went to rub my eyes
And it got bigger than a ship
This was unusual and quite terrifying
I knew I had to get moving
This would start the wild chase
Between myself and this extraterrestrial being-
Or perhaps he is of the supernatural spirits
I think I figured it out
This was the voice in my head-
The one that started out innocently;
As my imaginary friend
Who watched me transcend into the man that I am
I have drowned in a neurotic ocean of fear and anxiety
And let me guess, you have arrived to make things worse, haven't you?
You are only here to stomp on me when I am down
You know I am vulnerable,
But tonight I am running
I do not know who you are
Maybe, you are here to physically guide me
As you did not do enough from inside of me
Regardless, I am making an escape
And never coming back
I do not need you
To keep me on track
Or to watch over me in class
Those days are over
And your presence should be no more
