The Visit
I saw you and my thoughts were unkind
I wanted you so bad that I was out of my mind
Deciding that the feelings were true
So I picked a day to go see you
And it's down your street I drove
Eyes wide open like a scared little doe
As my knees almost caved
One last look in the mirror I gave
And my finger bent as I rang your bell
My mind was racing in a temporary hell
I leaned over kind of in a craze or a magnificent daze
For these were the directions you gave
Maybe I could see you a different time
The relief made me want to lie there maybe die there
Immediately prepared to become your slave
If and when for any time you gave
And as I began to hate
The crack around the door gave
And standing there looking so great
My emotions swelled my efforts had been paid
I whispered, "So how are you?"
You answered, "Good, so how about you?"
We both instantly knew
It was the love shinning through
