The Violence of Silence

There’s a silence inside me that waits in the dark..
A cold little demon with a venomous spark.
She smiles when I’m wounded, she laughs when I break..
And God help the fool who mistakes her for fake.

When anger ignites, all my mercy turns black..
No warning, no softness, no pulling it back.
I bury my feelings till one final shove..
Then I burn every bridge that was built out of love.

I know every weakness, each lie and disguise..
The fear people hide deep behind their fake eyes.
And once I start talking, the damage is done..
’Cause I don’t throw bullets.. I fire the gun.

The terrifying part is I know I’m not right..
But rage feels addictive when pain starts the fight.
So if I grow quiet, don’t think that I’m tame..
The calmest damn people create the worst flames.
