The Vast Unkown

As I stare into the winters chill,
posted there at the window sill
a birdie chirps a quiet twill
into the vast unknown.

Desolation is in the vast,
into the white a glance I cast
memories flood, from now and past
into the vast unknown.

Dazed in complete fascination,
betwixt by the correlation
where does the snow say relaxation
into the vast unknown?

Bittersweet were those days,
to snuggle warm in coddled play
but too soon, he went away
into the vast unknown.

I warm myself from the icy chill,
close my eyes to the pain I feel
drifting off with the daily pill
into the vast unknown.

Just as the pill begins to calm,
to my heart, I place my palm
my life at last, a ticking bomb
into the vast unknown.

Dawn awaits for me to rise,
a ghostly shadow by surprise
against the snow, my body lies
into the vast known.

Will they find me, I don't know,
forever here, to stare at snow
peering through the glass window
into the vast unknown.

Yes, tho we put on the stone face of competence as we journey, life is uncertain, filled with every emotion, even if held inside, good one, Jess!

I had to go back to your debut poem to actually see how you started off and I must say that this piece has certainly blown my mind. The imagery is wonderful and so to I'm loving the reiteration of ' Into the vast unknown.'' Well crafted Jess, may you continue to grow from strength to strength. : )
