The Valencia Tree

The Valencia tree blooms
Every spring, the flower of you
A Valencia tree grows
Blooming, from the scent of you

Breathe in
Breathe out

Time goes on
The Valencia tree soars, stretching out
Reaching, for you
Dreaming, the breath of you
Someday soon
We will meet once more
But not before June
To pluck the oranges of adoration from its branches
And strip the citrus of its peel
To reveal the parts of you
That are long overdue

Breathe in
Breathe out

Your citrus scent lingers
After the thunderous storms
After the earths charred
After the leaves fall
And the snow melts
Your citrus scent lingers
Into the bloom of you
When the birds begin to sing
Once more

Breathe in
Breathe out

Breathe in; the scent of you
