The urge to serve, best to rest lain If in role of doer Such thoughts bondage, an ego chain Our false sense of grandeur God’s touch alone does heal We but feels love’s appeal Acting with zest and zeal Conserve, reserve The urge to serve 17-December-2021 Quietus

Well, sometimes ego is a good thing, when harnessed to serving God in a good cause! Perhaps, the idea is to resist the urge to serve oneself. Happy Day, Gershon

One monk observed the other remarking why he looks downwards while giving charity. The other replied that each time he gives, he feels ashamed since actually it is God who gives but it outwardly appears otherwise, thus he looks down at the recipient’s feet. The act of service must be as such, egoless, as a divine conduit.
