THE UPSIDE OF LOCKDOWN

I really did not know how bad it was
Till lockdown came and forced a change of scene.
Then aircraft contrails stop scarring the sky
And rumbling roar above then went away
Along with that rage from the race track road.
Less diesel fume and foul soot we inhaled.

The feeling of wellbeing had then returned
As man’s sad storm then fell into a lull.
Once more our vital air was sweet and clean
As precious planet then pollution free.
I really did not know how bad it was
Till lockdown came and forced a change of scene.

I thought very similar thoughts Tony at the time. I hate to describe the time as beautiful because of course it was mired in tragedy but I just couldn't believe how deafening the silence really was. I enjoyed your poem. Cheers - Gary

Thanks Gary. Yes there was suffering but there was also joy. Seems that for every gain there is a loss. The good and bad co-exist. Tony
