The Unselected Poem

I am the unselected verse
Alone on the paper
Originated from the deepest heartfelt thoughts
Of one shy person’s observations

I rest on the page
Unexplored
Undiscovered
I am the uncurled leaf
Waiting for its destiny of sunlight

Not selected
I will soon fade away
Like blurry clouds defining a forgettable Monday
But I will not be entirely forgotten
Someone wrote me

I had a reason
If not to join emptiness
Then perhaps to remind others
Life is fleeting
But it is still life

Nicely written Susan. As one who sponsors a few contest on the soup it reminds me how harsh the N/A can be. The third stanza magnifies the beauty and necessity of each poem.
