The Uninterrupted Night

The vagaries of our existence Shine brightly, the stars seen without light The clouds, always overshadowed, flash The war of sound lost, the whispers, once soft Fall on ears no longer deaf to silence This is a different world, I tell myself But it has lain in wait singing at being heard as I with it dancing to the hushed tunes of its melodies The timeless hours not timeless at all But minutes stretched too tight with chords, groaning A language lost, rhythms obscured, desperate, deep and brimming with the dissatisfied longing Of the uninterrupted night
