The Tulip Tree

I have shared so much with you
in silence for over a year now
yet still you do not know me
You never will most likely
I am not the type of person
to whom you would give
the time of day or waste
a single moment considering
for there are more important
matters of the utmost urgency
awaiting your attention
people of more renown
to meet than a simple woman
wielding a poet’s pen
while pondering
an old tulip tree as she
observes in wonder
its pods pop open revealing
beautiful petals nature's brush
painted with splashes of orange
bordered by spring green
aware it’s her last opportunity
as it will be cut down
tomorrow morning
to make way for something new
though not necessarily better
as we all will be eventually

There is a sadness over losing any tree. You express this so well in your poem. You are much more than a simple woman my dear Angela, you are a poet! Your talent adds to this world and is much appreciated. Blessings xxoo
