Notes About The Poem

Entry for contest sponsored by John Lawless

Quatern with first line dictated as "The truth stood downcast in the lie".

Written about a person who fell in love with the charm of a sociopath

The Truth Stood Downcast In the Lie

The truth stood downcast in the lie,
A covered up sorrowful sigh,
Let out by a stranger who smiled,
When noticing feathers all riled;

With my shields let down she knew why,
The truth stood downcast in the lie,
And then she rehearsed ev’ry word,
To sharpen her tongue twisting sword;

“I love you with all of my heart”
She said with finality’s start,
The truth stood downcast in the lie,
My tears welling up so to cry;

For lies told by demons at first,
Shall always make tender hearts burst,
Her victim now, I wish to die,
The truth stood downcast in the lie.
